HYC Laser Frostbite Mission Statement

HYC frostbiting aims to offer great racing and friendly competition during the winter, from November through March.

Our priority is keeping our sailors, mark boat drivers, and RC safe.  The PRO has the final authority to decide whether racing will occur on a given day.

Our goal is to promote fair and rule-abiding sailing and to provide a platform for training and developing racing skills at all levels.

Sailors are encouraged to sail clean and fast.  Aggressive and risky sailing is discouraged because of the cold temperatures, which often aggravate a maneuver gone wrong.

Any bullying towards the RC, mark boats, or fellow sailors will not be tolerated.

Anyone failing to observe Rule 2 - FAIR SAILING or Rule 69 - MISCONDUCT will not be scored for the day.

Invitation to Huguenot Yacht Club|2023-2024 Season|Message from Fleet Captain

Dear All,

Hello everyone,

We are gearing up for another Frostbiting season at Huguenot Yacht Club, and you are invited to join us!  So here's a brief description of what we do and a link to the registration page.  Those who have been with us before, thanks for coming back.  We have grown because of you!  Welcome to those who have heard about us and think this is the year to join in!  

What we do:  We race ILCA 7, 6, and 4 / Lasers Standard, Radial, and 4.7s.

When we do it:  Every Sunday from beginning of November to the end of March. 

Who we are:  Some young and some perpetually young.  Some are new to racing Lasers, and some constantly updating their skills.  Some are quite fast already, and some are still dialing it in.  And we are all good people!  Competitive with and supportive of one another.

To charter a boat if you need one:  Request for Laser Charter

Racing Lasers or ILCA sailing dinghies:   we race up to six races Sundays spanning over two series: a Fall/Winter Series and a Winter/Spring Series;  nestled between the HYC Turkey Day Reach , a big boat retatta, and something of a distance race - the Execution Rocks Race Out and Return (E.R.R.O.R) race.   This adds up to as many as 22 days of racing from late Fall to early Spring; all in a fairly protected bay of Long Island Sound; all managed by a PRO and Race Committee and supported by a several couple support craft to keep sailors safe and out of  trouble.  And all this happens ... 

Huguenot Yacht Club has a clubhouse to change in, a place to dry-launch your boats, a restaurant and bar, and an outdoor porch on which to eat and drink and generally chat it up after the races.

And your registration means you are a Winter Member, which means in addition to charging drinks and food to a club account, you also have all the privileges that house membership provides.
